1969 Golf Team
Doug Sheppard was the coach of the New Paltz golf team in 1969, one of his 32 years as the team’s coach. During his tenure at New Paltz, Sheppard coached men’s basketball, men’s cross country and men’s tennis in addition to golf. He also served as Athletic Director for 10 years. He guided the 1969 golf team to a 12-2 record. The team shot a 342 at the SUNYAC Championships that season. The 1969 team included (as pictured in photo left to right): No. 1 Jay Goldin, No. 2 Mike Mostransky (Captain), No. 3 Jeff Berry, No. 5 Jack Jordan, No. 6 Dave Grant, Coach Doug Sheppard. Also on the team, but absent from the photo, No. 4 Bob Lipes.
