What does SAAC stand for?
SAAC stands for "Student Athlete Advisory Committee."
Who is in SAAC?
Individual leaders are selected to represent his or her sports program.
What does SAAC do?
Each leader in SAAC is a voice for his or her program. If there is a problem or concern regarding the program, facilites, or even if there is an update on the progress of the program, the leaders of SAAC voice it to the rest of the group. SAAC communicates with officials in the school to ensure that Student-Athletes have a voice.
SAAC also holds annual community service events.
This Year's Events Include:
Senior Citizens Leaf Rake (Sunday, Nov. 13)
Every autumn, when the leaves have fallen, SAAC gathers the sports teams to come together and rake the leaves off of the yards of Senior Citizens in the community. Doing this service allows the Student Athlete to interact with the community and give back as a thank you for their support.
Adopt-A-Family
During the holiday season, many families cannot afford to celebrate. The student athletes here at New Paltz are blessed with the honor to donate items to a family in need. Delivering presents to families over the holidays is truly an experience that words cannot describe. SAAC spreads holiday cheer and continues to show their appreciation towards the Hudson Valley Community
Soles4Souls ®
Not only does New Paltz’s SAAC make a difference in the community, it helps out internationally. Soles4Souls ® is a non profit organization that collects shoes and sends them to those in need throughout the world. New Paltz SAAC participated in a shoe collection for this past spring which resulted in thousands of pairs of shoes being donated by the campus community.
