Wellness & Recreation Available Positions

 

Front Desk Monitor

 

Responsibilities include answering telephones, managing the operation of the front service desk, answering questions, taking racquetball and tennis court reservations, enforcing facility access policies, conducting face checks, and distributing information and directions.  Hours open: Mon – Thu. 7:00 am – 10:00 PM; Fri. 7:00 am – 9:00 pm; Sat. 10:00 am-7:00 pm; Sun. 1:00 am – 10:00 PM. Elting Weight Room Supervisor

Personal Trainer

 

Individuals who have past or present experience working in a fitness center, health club, or gym setting helpful.  Individuals with customer service experience a plus.  Basic knowledge of exercise fitness principles and guidelines desired.  Basic daily upkeep of the equipment is a requirement of those in this position.  Experience in working with various forms of exercise equipment including treadmills, elliptical, weight resistance machines and free weight.  Experience in exercise instruction, demonstration, design, and prescription as well as certification as personal trainer will be given a high level of consideration.  Candidates must work a minimum of 10-12 hours per week and also be expected o work towards completion of Personal Training certification with our assistance.  Candidate will be expected to work for the entire school year and must be CPR/AED/First Aid certified.  Also will be required to attend training session prior to employment. Fitness Monitor

 

Individual responsible for supervision and maintenance of Athletic & Wellness Center fitness rooms.  Responsible for cleaning of fitness machines and fitness rooms and assist personal trainers with fitness room supervision.  Also will be required to attend training session prior to employment. Group Fitness Instructor

 Develop, implement and lead safe, appropriate and fun wellness classes.  Certification preferred.  Candidates will receive group fitness training if necessary on safe and effective teaching. Intramural Supervisor

 

Supervise intramural sports, including equipment and officials for a specific activity.  Hours: Mon – Fri 3:00 pm – 11: 00 pm; Weekend hours available.  Inquiries regarding Intramurals Supervisors, contact Joe Deck at ext. 2343 or e-mail at deckj@newpaltz.edu.

 

Intramural Assistant

 

Responsible for keeping time and scores at intramural events, helping to prepare intramural venue for competition, and assisting the Intramural Supervisor as needed.  Training is provided.  Hours: As needed for activities.  Inquiries regarding Intramurals Assistant, contact Joe Deck at ext. 2343 or e-mail at deckj@newpaltz.edu

 

Officials

Lifeguards 

 

Applicants are required to prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, regulation and conduct of persons using the pool. Responsible for opening and closing the pool, testing the pool water for the PH and chlorine levels along with the normal lifeguard duties. Applicants for the position must also have current American Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid, CPR and AED certifications.
