New Paltz Athletics Honors Academics at Chi Alpha Sigma Ceremony

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – On Wednesday, April 9, the State University of New York at New Paltz Department of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation honored 34 student-athletes for their commitment to academics, as New Paltz held its annual Chi Alpha Sigma induction luncheon at the College Terrace.
 
A total of 24 student-athletes (five seniors and 19 juniors) were inducted into the organization, while 10 additional seniors were recognized as second-year honorees.
 
Chi Alpha Sigma is a non-profit organization established to recognize college student-athletes who earn a varsity letter in at least one sport while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their junior and senior years. The Honor Society was founded at DePauw University on May 17, 1996, by DePauw head football coach and professor of kinesiology Nick Mourouzis.
