Erin Tornatore Captures Second-Team All-SUNYAC Honors

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Junior midfielder Erin Tornatore (Glen Cove, N.Y./North Shore) from the State University of New York at New Paltz was named to the 2012 All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Lacrosse Second Team, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Tornatore set a single-season program record in draw controls with 97 for the season, and she added 44 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers. On the attack, she netted 25 goals and added six assists for 31 points. She started in all 17 of the team's games as well. With a year remaining of eligibility, Tornatore is the program's all-time leader in draw controls (164), ground balls (129) and caused turnovers (70), and she ranks fourth all-time in career assists (20), fourth all-time in career points (75) and seventh all-time in career goals (55). This marks her inaugural All-SUNYAC honor, and she becomes just the third All-Conference player in program history. Tornatore, a visual arts major, is a 2009 graduate of North Shore High School, and her parents are Phil Tornatore and Joan Flynn.

New Paltz finished the season at 7-10 overall and 2-6 in SUNYAC play under the direction of first-year head coach Liz Student. The team's win total equaled the best-ever in program history, and the Hawks won their first conference contest since the program's reinstatement in 2009 with a 21-20 victory over SUNY Oswego on April 17.
