NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Ryan Lundgren will return to the sidelines for a second season as an assistant men’s soccer coach at the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2010, as announced by the Department of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation.
Lundgren will continue to work with the defenders and improve the overall technical skills of the team. Last season, the Hawks went 7-10-2 and landed two players on the All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) teams.
“Ryan has been a part of the New Paltz soccer program since I arrived,” head men’s soccer coach Eric Watson said. “He was a standout defender for two seasons and was a very important part of our coaching staff last fall.”
Lundgren competed for New Paltz from 2007-08 after having played for SUNY Orange in 2004 and 2006. As a Hawk, Lundgren starred as a starting defender, drawing starts in all 35 contests in which he played.
"I'm looking forward to help make this year New Paltz’s best season in the four years I have been a part of the Hawk men's soccer program,” Lundgren said. “I'm also very excited to be back since this year’s seniors were freshman when I joined the team as a transfer student. It's been fun to watch all of them grow as athletes as well as men."
