2010 Women's Lacrosse Recap

The New Paltz women's lacrosse team finished 4-11 overall and had a record of 0-8 in SUNYAC competition.  Sophomore Samantha DelGaudio led the team in goals (33), points (48), and was tied for first in assists (15) with freshman midfielder Brittany Hunt.

DelGaudio broke the single season record with 33 goals.  The season record of 12 assists was broken by Hunt and DelGaudio with 15 in 2010.  Junior Brittany Bennett won a team-high 42 draw controls putting her second all-time in a season.  Bennett also netted 22 goals which is eighth all-time in a season.  Freshman Erin Tornatore had a team-high 45 groundballs and is ranked 90th in the nation with caused turnovers. 

The Hawks opened the 2010 season against Greensboro College and fell to the Pride 9-6.  Freshman midfielder Julianne Rehain netted two goals and four other Hawk players each scored one.  The Hawks picked up their first win of the season in game two against King's College.  Bennett and DelGaudio showed their leadership by scoring seven goals combined in the contest.  Bennett scored four and DelGaudio netted three goals to prevail over the Monarchs. 

Mount Saint Mary College was the next victim for the Hawks in a 16-8 win.  DelGaudio scored a stunning five goals and teammate Julianne Rehain followed suit by scoring four in the cross-town rivalry.  Brittany Hunt was able to find three other Hawk players setting them up for the score.  Hunt had a game-high three assists on the afternoon. 

The Hawks picked up their first victory at home in a 21-1 win over the Raptors of Bard College.  DelGaudio and Bennett led the team scoring three goals each.  DelGaudio had a game-high six assists and teammate Erin Tornatore chipped in with three. 

The Hawks had some tough luck in conference but came out strong against Potsdam in a SUNYAC competition.  The Hawks fell in a heartbreaking 11-10 loss as the Bears scored a goal with 2:33 left putting them up by one.  Samantha DelGaudio made a statement by scoring a team-high four goals and teammate's Bridgitte Hooker and Brittany Hunt stepped up as they each scored two goals.

The Hawks ended on a good note as they defeated Ramapo in their last game of the season.  The Hawks were led by DelGaudio and Hooker as they each scored four goals.  Tornatore chipped in by scoring three goals and Hunt, Bennett, and DelGaudio tallied two assists each in the win over the Roadrunners. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Margaret DeLauter finished the season with 154 saves in 863 minutes played.  DeLauter ranks 34th in the nation with saves per game and 49th in total saves.
