NEW PALTZ, N.Y.Grant Norte, the current head athletic trainer at the State University of New York at New Paltz, will be stepping down from his position to pursue his PhD in sport medicine at the University of Virginia, as announced Friday by director of athletics Stuart Robinson. Norte's final day will be on June 6, 2012. A national search for his replacement is nearing its conclusion, and no more applications are being accepted.

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – On Saturday, April 28, 2012, the State University of New York at New Paltz Department of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation hosted its second annual Spring Alumni Weekend, and approximately 160 alumni from fall and winter sports were in attendance. The weather cooperated once again, as the sun shined down the entirety of the day without a trace of rain in sight.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Senior defender Shannon Cobb (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) of the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team was selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference's (SUNYAC) 2011-12 SUNY Chancellor Scholar-Athlete Award winner for women's soccer, as announced Wednesday by SUNY. There were 79 recipients in total.

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz Department of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation has announced the New Paltz Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2012, which will be inducted on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012. Headlining the class individually are John Bowe '87 (men's basketball), Joanna Masterson '06 (women's swimming), Bill Odeneal (men's volleyball) and Joe Sagula '78 (volleyball). In addition, the 1984, 1985 and 1986 men's volleyball teams will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz baseball team (18-21, 5-13 SUNYAC) crawled out of a 9-0 hole and put the tying run at the plate in the sixth, but No. 7 SUNY Cortland (31-7-1, 16-2 SUNYAC) enjoyed a two-run sixth and four-run seventh to come away with a 15-5 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory over the Hawks on Sunday afternoon at Wallace Field. It marked the final game of the 2012 for New Paltz.

The Red Dragons won game one, 3-2, in 10 innings before blanking the Hawks, 2-0, in the nightcap.

BUFFALO – Buffalo State (12-5, 5-3 SUNYAC) led 12-5 at halftime and finished the game with seven straight goals, pushing past the State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team (7-10, 2-6 SUNYAC), 22-10, in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest on Saturday afternoon. It marked the 2012 season finale for New Paltz, and the Hawks finished the year equaling their single-season program record for wins with seven.

New Paltz lost game one by a 4-3 margin before picking up the victory in game two, 2-1.
